As members of this fellowship, we commit ourselves to the nurturing, protecting and safekeeping of children and young people entrusted to the church’s care. We recognise that our work with children and young people is the responsibility of the whole fellowship. The elders, on behalf of the church, take seriously this responsibility and are committed to supporting and training those who work with children and young people.
The fellowship undertakes to meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998, the Protection of Children Act 1999 and the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (Northern Ireland) Order 2003.
SEC has produced a Child Protection Policy based on a model supplied by the umbrella organisation for safeguarding CEF Ireland (Child Evangelism Fellowship of Ireland). A summary, signed by the elders on behalf of the fellowship, is on public display on the main notice board in the lobby of the church. This policy is available upon request. Each person regularly working with children and young people, whether a member of the fellowship or associated with it, must be AccessNI checked, have read the Child Protection Policy and undertake to observe it.
